Divorce is weird and sad. But here are some things to keep in mind to help you through and ensure that it doesn't define who you are.  The following are things that I’m personally doing and if some of them do it for you than great. Remember, it's your journey, and it's okay to navigate it at your own pace. Be kind to yourself along the way.

  • It's okay to feel a whole range of emotions. Give yourself the time and space to grieve the end of your marriage. Don't rush it. If this means crying it out while you make your parents couch your new bed, then mother fuckin do that. Cry it out.

  • Reach out to your friends and family. Having people around who care about you can make a world of difference. Share your thoughts and feelings—it really helps.

  • Don't hesitate to talk to a counselor or therapist. They can provide guidance and strategies to cope with the emotional rollercoaster that comes with a divorce.

  • Prioritize self-care. It can’t be wine ALL the time. At first maybe, but then try to eat well, exercise, and make sure you get enough sleep. Your physical and mental well-being are crucial during this time.

  • Healing doesn't happen overnight. Be patient with yourself and don't expect to have everything figured out right away.

  • Use this time to reflect on what you've learned from the whole experience. Look at it as a chance for personal growth and self-discovery.

  • Remember those things you used to love doing? Reconnect with your hobbies and interests—it's a great way to rediscover who you are outside of the marriage.

  • Setting boundaries with your ex is crucial. This includes how you communicate and giving each other the space needed to move forward.

  • Surround yourself with positivity. Cultivate friendships that lift you up and contribute to your happiness.

  • Set new goals and envision a positive future. Concentrate on personal and professional aspirations that bring you fulfillment and happiness.

  • All of these can apply to anything. It doesn’t just have to do with a divorce. Be kind to yourself and remember just how special and loved you are despite what you may be going through.
